Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" is a cosmetic surgery performed to make the abdomen flat and more firm. The procedure can significantly reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. The surgery is performed to remove excess fat and skin from the area between navel and pubic joint. The slack skin is often a result of pregnancy, significant weight loss or aging. It is often necessary to tighten the abdominal muscle, which significantly restores the tonus of abdominal wall and enables achieving a flat belly.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. After the surgery the patient is left with drains for 1-3 days and a special elastic dressing / garment to wear permanently for 4 weeks. For the first few days abdomen will probably be swollen and bruised, a patient feels some pain and discomfort which can be controlled by painkillers.

The procedure leaves one narrow scar running from the one iliac spine to the other in the lower part of the abdomen over the pubic joint and another scar rounding the navel. Abdominoplasty gives excellent results and long lasting results.
